Dethleffs Globebus Go
Short version
Low-profile entry-level motorhome with attractive price-performance ratio
Dethleffs Globebus Go: the new compact motorhome on a Ford Transit chassis Larger than a camper van but more compact and manoeuvrable than a large motorhome – the Dethleffs Globebus has proven a hit with many customer groups, from first-time campers to seasoned explorers and city travellers. The A
Class Globebus based on the Fiat Ducato is now joined by a low-profile model – the Globebus Go based on the Ford Transit. Dethleffs will celebrate the official launch of its most compact motorhome at CMT 2023 in Stuttgart.
Leisure vehicle manufacturer Dethleffs will unveil its new Dethleffs Globebus Go range at CMT 2023 in Stuttgart. This compact and agile low-profile motorhome is characterised by an extremely attractive price-performance ratio. Dethleffs has chosen the Ford Transit as the base vehicle for the Globebus Go. Even the basic version of this front-wheel drive motorhome features a 96 kW (130 hp) EcoBlue diesel engine and a wealth of comfort and safety equipment, including numerous assistance systems, alongside the generous entry-level package.
Dethleffs offers the Globebus Go in two layouts. The T 15 includes a transverse double bed in the rear and, with an overall length of 599 centimetres, is the shortest motorhome in the Dethleffs stable. The longer T 45 gets rear single beds. With an overall length of 669 centimetres, it is the shortest Dethleffs motorhome equipped with single beds. At 2.20 metres wide, both models are barely wider
than a camper van and yet offer all the comfort, equipment and winter performance of a motorhome. The modern interior design combines matt white, handleless overhead locker doors with natural wood tones and contrasting surfaces in anthracite.
The kitchen boasts an efficient 86-litre compressor fridge that is purely electrically operated and thus a key component in the largely gas-free concept of the Globebus Go – as is the standard 6 kW diesel heater with integrated warm water boiler.
The elimination of additional gas consumers means a smaller gas bottle is now sufficient (since it is only needed for cooking), which is housed directly in the kitchen. This not only removes the need to lug around heavy 11 kg gas bottles, but also frees up significant additional storage space at the rear of the vehicle.
Thanks to the innovative rotating wall, the comfortably dimensioned bathroom is fully equipped with a sink, toilet and shower. In the default position, the rotating wall with attached sink nestles against the outer wall. When the wall is swung out, the sink slides over the toilet, creating space for a full-size shower with solid walls.
Two equipment variants to choose from
Building on the generous entry-level specification, the attractively priced Comfort Package brings some useful additions, such as a rain sensor and air conditioning. There are also comfort-related extras for the conversion, including windows in the cab hood and habitation door, pleated cab blinds, as well as the option to convert the single beds into a double bed. With the optional Winter Comfort Package, the
Globebus Go is ideally prepared for camping in the cold season. There is also plenty of scope for customisation thanks to numerous options, including a more powerful 114 kW (155 hp) engine, automatic transmission, electric floor heating, a solar power system and a larger lithium-ion on-board battery – all of which offer excellent value for money.
The new models will be available at selected Dethleffs dealers from summer 2023.
Long version
Low-profile entry-level motorhome with attractive price-performance ratio Dethleffs Globebus Go: the new compact motorhome on a Ford Transit chassis Larger than a camper van but more compact and manoeuvrable than a large motorhome – the Dethleffs Globebus has proven a hit with many customer
groups, from first-time campers to seasoned explorers and city travellers. The A Class Globebus based on the Fiat Ducato is now joined by a low-profile model – the Globebus Go based on the Ford Transit. Dethleffs will celebrate the official launch of its most compact motorhome at CMT 2023 in Stuttgart.
“Compactness” is the operative word here – you don’t necessarily need a luxury liner to travel flexibly and in total comfort. Indeed, the agility you only get with a smaller vehicle can sometimes be a real plus – especially when driving on narrow country roads or manoeuvring on narrow city streets. For many years, the Dethleffs Globebus has repeatedly shown that even a compact motorhome can offer style, comfort and high-quality living. Now Dethleffs is expanding this popular range with a low-profile model and will celebrate the launch of the new Globebus Go at CMT 2023 in Stuttgart.
This compact, low-profile motorhome is characterised by an extremely attractive price-performance ratio – no matter whether customers choose the generously equipped basic model or an upgraded variant equipped with the Comfort Package.
A glance at the new Globebus Go – with its width of just 2.20 metres and Dethleffs’ trademark exterior design including sweeping side lines and a shapely rear – is enough to confirm it shares the same DNA as its Globebus sister model. Yet in terms of the base vehicle, on-board equipment and interior design, this new lowprofile motorhome truly breaks the mould. The same is true in the vertical dimension – the Globebus Go exemplifies “compactness” not only in terms of its length and width, but also its overall height. At just 269 centimetres, the new low-profile model lacks 12 centimetres on its A Class sibling.
Base vehicle with an abundance of safety equipment: Ford Transit
While its A Class sister model is based on the Fiat Ducato, Dethleffs has chosen the Ford Transit as the base vehicle for the low-profile Globebus Go. Even the basic version of this front-wheel drive motorhome boasts a 96 kW (130 hp) EcoBlue diesel engine and a wealth of comfort and safety equipment alongside the generous entry-level package. For example, standard equipment includes cruise control, heated and electrically adjustable wing mirrors, as well as a digital DAB+ car radio with steering wheel controls. There are also numerous assistance systems, such as Emergency Brake Support, Hill Start Assist, Crosswind Assist and Safety Brake Assist. The swivelling captain seats each have two armrests and are height-adjustable and inclinable for increased comfort when driving.
Two layouts to choose from
Dethleffs offers the low-profile Globebus Go in two layouts. Generous storage cupboards for clothes and
all manner of holiday equipment are provided underneath the raised beds. Moving forward from the rear bedroom, the traditional room layout is identical in both models – the bathroom and kitchen in the middle of the vehicle are adjoined by a semi-dinette with a two-seater bench and a table against the wall. The modern interior design combines matt white, handleless overhead locker doors with natural wood tones and contrasting surfaces in anthracite. The seating lounges are finished in grey; the Salerno upholstery (included in the Comfort Package) adds blue surfaces to enliven the living room.
In keeping with its compact dimensions and to increase its payload, Dethleffs has designed the standard version of the Globebus Go as a two-seater vehicle. If desired, appropriate restraint systems can be retrofitted to the bench seat, allowing a third and fourth occupant to travel on board.
Less gas – more storage space
The kitchen is compact yet well equipped. In addition to the spacious wall cabinets, large drawers, two-burner hob, sink and folding worktop extension, the Globebus Go’s galley boasts an efficient and powerful 86-litre compressor fridge.
A 149-litre fridge/freezer combination is optionally available.
In contrast to the A Class Globebus, the electrically operated compressor refrigerator is a key component in the overall concept of the Globebus Go, as is the standard 6 kW diesel heater with integrated ten-litre warm water boiler. By eliminating gas appliances in the new vehicle (apart from the cooker), Dethleffs has created several additional benefits. For example, a smaller gas bottle is sufficient since it is now only needed for cooking. This is discreetly housed in the kitchen, removing the need to lug around heavy 11 kg gas bottles. Furthermore, by dispensing with the gas bottle locker, additional storage space for camping equipment has been created at the rear of the vehicle. And because the efficient diesel heater is supplied with fuel directly from the main fuel tank, the Globebus Go offers maximum autonomy even on the coldest days. An optionally available lithium-ion on-board battery with up to 168 Ah capacity also enables longer autonomous operation for the electric compressor refrigerator.
Comfort bathroom with innovative rotating wall
Despite the extremely compact exterior dimensions of both Globebus Go models, the comfortably dimensioned bathroom is fully equipped with a sink, toilet and shower thanks to the innovative rotating wall. In the basic position, the rotating wall nestles against the outer wall, leaving the sink and toilet freely accessible.
When swivelled outwards, the sink attached to the rotating wall slides over the toilet, creating enough space for a full-fledged shower with solid walls.
Two equipment variants to choose from
The generous basic equipment already includes, for example, a habitation door with fly screen, cab blinds and 150-millimetre-thick cold foam mattresses on the fixed beds. The rear garage comes with an anti-slip floor surface as standard as well as new, smooth-running twist-lock fasteners.
The Comfort Package ticks every box in terms of enhanced living and driving comfort. Besides additional equipment for the base vehicle, such as a headlight assistant, rain sensor and air conditioning, it also includes windows in the cab hood, a midi fold-up skylight with a length of 70 centimetres above the seating lounge, pleated cab blinds and the option to convert the single beds into a double bed.
An Assistance Package with additional safety features is also available for both variants, as is the One Package, which adds a cassette awning, reversing camera, flat-screen TV and automatic satellite system to the list of factory-fitted kit. The optional Winter Comfort Package transforms the Globebus Go into a winter specialist and ensures outstanding comfort even in icy temperatures – without the risk of the water system freezing. In addition, there is plenty of scope for customisation thanks to numerous options, including a more powerful 114 kW (155 hp) engine, automatic instead of manual transmission, a trailer coupling, electric floor heating and a larger lithium-ion battery with up to 168 Ah – all of which offer excellent value for money.
The new vehicles will be available at selected dealers from summer 2023.
